The Post also reports sales at the global brand have been stagnant, and Michele Sofisti, the CEO of Gucci’s watches and jewelry division, left the company last week. In October, Gucci posted its weakest quarterly growth in four years, withoverexpansion in China being pointed to as one reason. Rumors abounded in Europe about this over the past summer, with names being floated as possible new Gucci creative directors. One name heard often and loudly was Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, who has been considered one of fashion’s top talents for years and, we hear, has been at least approached for the position.
